Learning about living objects and how they function are all part of life science. The six characteristics of life essentially all come into play.

Edible Cell Project
To help us specifically with the cells unit, we were to create an edible cell. The cell was constructed of 10 main parts. The parts consist of ; the mitochondria, cell membrane, lysosome, vacuole, cytoplasm, chromosomes, Chromatin (DNA), nucleolus, nucleus, and endoplasmic reticulum. Each one of these parts has a specific job within that cell. For example, the cell membrane is there as a barrier to ward off any threats to the cell. The cytoplasm is the jellylike substance within the cell, and the vacuole stands as the "storage compartment" of the cell. This project was meant to help us with understanding the cell parts and their functions, as well as their place within the cell. The nucleolus doesn't belong outside of the nucleus, therefore it can only function within the nucleus. I believe that this project helped me with my understanding better than the book itself. We were given about 20 minutes to construct the cake, then afterwards, we were asked a question about a part of the cell.
Oratory skills were greatly needed to construct this cake, as we needed to communicate with each other, so we knew exactly what to bring. Responsibility also fell into the hands of this project. He had to be responsible enough to remember what we were supposed to bring. If, however, we forgot to bring it, then there would have been consequences, such as a failing grade. Sickness seemed to have gotten the better of everyone, so if you were an individual that had gotten sick, then you would have had to contact someone in your group, and request that they bring the item(s) for you.

Glogster EDU
This project that we currently finished, was probably the best project. I felt as if I actually learned something from this project, and it was in a fun way. This activity allowed us to use our creativity and skills, as well as what we already know about living things. The six characteristics of life are: living things have cells, living things reproduce, living things have DNA, living things sense and respond to change, living things grow and develop, and living things use energy. Knowing these characteristics are very important to understand. Most if these pillars are common sense, but actually going into the depth gets a bit more complicated. Piecing together pictures and videos was a lot of work, but it was worth it.
Math was a great part in this project. Knowing how to proportionally fit everything inside was hard, especially with such a small wall. I wasn't able to fit everything I wanted, but I believe that I put enough. Computer skills were also needed to put together this project. Having the knowledge of putting the pictures and videos in were very useful in this situation. Overall this project was a very nice one, and taught most of us a lot about living things, but this project made the curriculum more endurable and enjoyable.
The device used to create this project was called Glogster EDU. Glogster made this project much easier, simply because there was a variety fonts, and texts you could choose from. Adding the pictures was quiet a problem, and I couldn't exactly get a video to work, but the rest of the project was just fine.
